How to read the Chain Links shown in:
"
Loaded Bike: Effect of Final Drive changes on links & wheel position"
The number of links shown in the
'Stock', 'Current' and 'Custom' columns are fixed and will not
automatically change when changing sprockets!
This number of links does not change as it is assumed that you keep your current chain. Keeping this chain it
calculates the new 'resulting' sprocket distance. Now if that means a distance
which you cannot set because you wheel is already completely in front or rear
position, then you can enter a new number of links (in Custom setup) to check
how many links you would need to get a big enough adjustment range.
So please
do not interpret these numbers as:
"Oh, it still needs the same number of links even though I changed sprockets..."

But do:
• Check the Sprocket Distance Difference in
Custom Setup compared to Current Setup (in this case: -0.66 inch closer together
so move rear wheel to front)
• Check on your bike if this distance is still available: in this case can you move your rear wheel from it current position, 0.66 inch forwards ?
• If shown move distance is available you can use the sprockets from Custom Setup without buying a new chain and keeping the one with the numbers of links entered in Custom setup.
• If shown move distance is not available, change the number of links in Custom Setup field in this table until you get a sprocket distance difference that is available. This means buying a new chain and you should set the chain wear for the new 'Custom'-chain to 0% . Remember to keep the number of chain links even ! That would look like this:
• Now when using a new chain with 96 links and chain wear set to 0%, from it current position,
you only need to move your rear wheel 0.13 inch forwards. Most likely that is possible but you have to check on your own bike of course.

If the link to this Help popup says "Bike Chain data not available!",
the default chain specifications for this bike are unknown. If you do know the correct chain specifications, you can enter them manually yourself. The Links,
Length and Sprocket Distances will be calculated automatically.
